Perhaps no other holiday story is as well-loved as Charles Dickens’s A Christmas Carol. The thrilling story tells the tale of a Victorian miser named Ebenezer Scrooge. The original Grinch, Scrooge is a wealthy man in a time of need with no empathy in his heart for others. He also hates Christmas, and all it represents. On Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his former partner, Jacob Marley, who warns him of the fate in hell that may befall him for his life of greed. Later, Scrooge is visited by three sprits who show him his past, present, and future.

As much a ghost story as it is a tale of redemption, A Christmas Carol has captured the world’s imagination. So much so that it’s been adapted, rebooted, and re-imagined close too many times to count. But what version of A Christmas Carol should you watch this holiday season?
