Winter is here and with it Christmas is coming closer and closer! The moment you start counting the number of sleeps before Christmas, you know it’s about time to plan some wonderful family Christmas days out. We’re here to give you a hand with finding the best Christmas events for the whole family. Here’s our round-up of the best places to visit with the kids this Christmas!

Christmas at Chatsworth House, Bakewell

Visit Chatsworth House this December, for an unforgettable festive adventure for the whole family. Put your explorer’s hats on and venture on an expedition around the globe with Phileas Fogg and Amelia Earhart. From the lights of the Nordic winter wonderland, to the beautiful cherry blossoms in Japan – you’ll find out exactly what Father Christmas feels like as he makes his trip around the world!
Up for an evening adventure? On Thursdays and Fridays from 5th to 20th December, Chatsworth House will host enchanting Christmas Twilight evenings. After the house closes to the general public, you’ll be invited to explore the halls in all their festive glory to the sounds of live Christmas music with traditional bell ringers and a strings trio.
Fairy tales in the historic Chatsworth after dark, topped up with delicious mince pie and a glass of wine (juice for the kids) – sounds like a family Christmas day out, you won’t forget in a hurry!

Christmas at Paultons Park, The New Forest, Hampshire

If you’ve got young kids you would not want to miss out on Christmas at Paultons! It’s a very special time at the park, with Show Street transforming into Snow Street and Peppa Pig World getting a complete winter makeover. Peppa and George,wrapped up in their cosy winter clothes, will be there to welcome your little ones to Peppa Pig World. You can even spot Santa in his sleigh with his reindeer from the series!
You’ll be completely immersed in the festive atmosphere from the moment you see the musical Christmas trees at the entrance plaza, to the long-awaited visit to Santa’s Grotto (don’t forget to book in advance). Plus, you can still enjoy some of the most popular rides and attractions at Paultons, including Lost Kingdom and Critter Creek.
Oh, and make sure you see the glowing illuminations at Peppa Pig World before you head home for the day – your family festive day out wouldn’t be complete without that!

Christmas at Fishers Farm Park, Wisborough Green, West Sussex

Walking down a winding pathway, lit by thousands of Christmas lights, to the sounds of jolly bell-ringing and classic Christmas carols – the Christmas celebration at Fishers Farm Park will be truly magical. In this real-life winter wonderland, you and your kids will experience the best Christmas day out ever!

Fancy a big theme park day out with a Chrsitmasy twist? Twinlakes Park is the place to go! In addition to all your favourite thrill rides and family attractions, this winter, you’ll get to experience the spirit of Christmas at Twinlakes’ Magical Winter Wonderland.
If you really want to give your kids a Christmas holiday to remember, be sure to book them in for a meeting with Santa. The journey to Santa’s Grotto is a proper festive experience in itself; the only way to reach Father Christmas’ log cabin is to journey through the fairy tale forest on The Polar Express train! At the end, each child will receive a Christmas gift AND you’ll have the chance to purchase a special family photo with Santa.
The festive entertainment, doesn’t end there! From meeting Rudy the Twinlakes Parks’ reindeer, to a Snowman Hunt, gingerbread making and reindeer feeding, your little ones will have plenty to keep them going all day long.

Christmas at Drayton Manor is designed to give your younger kids a truly magical day out. Let’s face it – we can’t write a list of the best Christmas family days out in the UK and not mention Hyde Park Winter Wonderland. Every year, families from all over the country flock to the capital specifically for this event and there’s a good reason why…
We won’t have the time and space to list all the amazing experience on offer this year but we’ll give you a little taste. From the UK’s largest outdoor skating rink and the magical Santa Land, to the Paddington™ on Ice spectacular and the Giant Observation wheel – it will be a day to remember! Oh, and before we forget, this year London’s top Christmas event is FREE to enter.

Here’s a must-do Christmas event that should be on every parent’s list of things to do in December! Sixth year running, Christmas at Kew is an epic Christmas spectacular, featuring laser beams and thousands of glittering pealights. It’s hard to put into words, the whimsical atmosphere of walking through the majestic Kew Gardens under the moonlight and seeing countless Christmas lights illuminate the place. What can we say, you’ve got to see it to feel it!
If you weren’t won over by the trail by now, the idea of indulgent festive treats under the stars should do it. Toasted marshmallows, roasting chestnut and brewing mulled wine or hot chocolate…Don’t know about you but we’re totally in!

Christmas at Dunham Massey is all about lights! This winter after dark, the gardens will turn into a fairy-tale like land of colourful Christmas lights, glowing trees and shining baubles.
Take the kids on a path illuminated by hundreds of globes, see strings of lights hanging all around you and walk under a bridge of thousand lights. Sounds magical, doesn’t it?
14th November 2020 – 6th January 2020
A Christmas parade to welcome Santa and a magical illuminated lake – this is how the fairy tale Christmas Adventure at Stockeld Park begins. You’ll also get to glide along on a Real Ice Rink and ski along the Nordic Ski Trail – be ready for surprises along the trail, including mermaids and crocodiles!
Ready for the best part? Stockeld Park also offers the only illuminated maze in Yorkshire, giving you the opportunity to experience the maze after dark. Searching for the right path, surrounded by thousands of twinkling lights will leave the kids in awe.
16th November – 22nd December 2020 (Wednesday to Sunday)
If you live near Buckinghamshire, the Christmas Fair at Waddesdon Manor, with its 20ft Christmas trees and stunning Christmas lights, is probably one of the best ways to celebrate Christmas near you. Why do people love the fair so much, you ask? Well, it might be the charm of the pretty wooden stands with hand-crafted gifts, or the atmospheric Christmas decorations, or maybe it’s the delicious smell of festive food and mulled wine…
Whatever the reason, it’s a heartwarming festive event you should definitely experience as a family this December.
Select weekends in November & December 2020
Father Christmas will be stopping at Cotswold Farm Park on certain weekends in November and December 2020 as part of the Christmas at the Farm event. It’s the perfect opportunity to combine a day at the farm with some classic festive activities.
Your little ones will have the chance to make a Christmas Eve box with the help of an elf, pay Santa a visit in his luxury grotto and pick a gift from the Toy Shop.
17th November – 24th December 2020
Hop on Polar Express Snow Train to Santa’s Workshop at Snow Factor Braehead and get where your little elves will have a go at making Christmas decorations in Santa’s Workshop, before sitting down for story time with the Big Man himself. And as with any meeting with Santa, this one won’t end without a gift, either!
Oh, and Mrs Claus will be joining in on the festive fun as well this year! She makes chocolate cookies to die for (according to the elves!), so make sure you try them before you go…
30th November – 22nd December 2020
Love animals? This festive season, you’ve got the chance to combine your day at the zoo with an enchanting Christmas day out experience at Northumberland County Zoo. With enormous 18ft inflatables and colourful decorations all around, Christmas Wonderland is sure to put you in the right mood for festivities, plus it’s included in the price of your ticket!
If you want to add a little extra to your little ones’ special day, you can sign them up for the Christmas Owl Experience, featuring a workshop with the elves where they’ll create a Letter to Santa, a visit to Santa’s Grotto and an up-close experience with the owls at Christmas Wonderland.
30th November – 1st December 2020
Speaking of Christmas events featuring owls, Christmas with the Owls at Suffolk Owl Sanctuary is THE event to book! The festive season is all about being together and spreading the love, so meeting the injured owls from the region fits right in. Then with some special guests from the North Pole, your little ones will get the chance to meet Father Christmas in his Yuletide Grotto; his elves will be there too, of course!
Suffolk Owl Sanctuary also goes the extra mile to make everyone feel welcome. The friendly Elf Natalie will be on hand to sign the festive visit for kids with hearing problems.
Some people say the festive season doesn’t truly begin until you see Coca Cola’s iconic truck. You don’t have to wait for it pop up on TV though! Do one better and see the huge, red Coca Cola trucks in your city, as it goes on its annual festive tour. Check out this year’s dates here!
Never been to the Coca Cola Truck Tour before? There’s only one way to describe it – it’s a Winter Wonderland on wheels, complete with Christmas carols and loads of Coca Cola!
